Rosie the Riveter WWII 1940's Headscarf - Get Go Retro - 1

Rosie the Riveter WWII 1940's Headscarf

$25.00

These handmade head scarves/bandanas are based on the versions used daily by women during World War 2 (WWII), many of which took over work in the munitions and wartime production factories for the men who were off fighting the war and needed a functional, fashionable way to protect their lovely hairdos while getting the job done.

Many of the scarves were hand made by these ladies themselves, as were the majority of their everyday clothing items. These women become known collectively as "Rosie the Riveter", which is an icon of American strength and patriotism to this day. The name "Rosie the Riveter" actually originated from a song written in 1942 -

  • Materials: red with white polka dots, 100 percent cotton fabrics, cotton thread

“Rosie the Riveter”

While other girls attend their fav’rite cocktail bar
Sipping Martinis, munching caviar
There’s a girl who’s really putting them to shame
Rosie is her name
All the day long whether rain or shine
She’s a part of the assembly line
She’s making history, working for victory
~ Rosie the Riveter
